Profile of Facilities to be Offered

The initial construction in Phase 1 will consist of a main building and secondary buildings totalling  approximately 1100 m2 over 1 or 2 levels. This  will comprise: *

• Outpatients
  4 consultation rooms (each 15 m2)
  A general out-patient department with all specialities
• Pharmacy
  2 x dispensary rooms:1 allopathic, 1 complimentary medicines  (each 20 m2)
• Waiting Areas
  2 x waiting room (each 40 m2)
• Surgical Facilities
  1 x operating theatre (30 m2).
  2 x recovery rooms (10 m2)
• Inpatient Facilities
  6 x 5-bed inpatient wards (each 40m2).
• Imaging (x-ray, ultrasound etc.)
  2 x imaging rooms: 1 X-ray, 1 ultrasound  (each 25 m2).
  One Plain film X-Ray machine, mainly for limb, chest and head work (More complex work such as fluoroscopy or CT scanning will need to be introduced at a later stage, when the department will have to be enlarged.)
• Laboratories
  1 x path lab  (25 m2).
  This will be a small pathology laboratory with units for haematology, biochemistry, anatomical pathology and microbiology.
• Sterilisation
  1 x Sterilisation Room (25 m2). This will be a small facility with autoclave.
• Maternity Delivery and Infant Care
  1 x delivery room (25 m2), including capacity for caesarean deliveries. 
  1 x Special Care Baby Unit (30 m2) to care for premature babies.
• Intensive Care Unit
  1 x 2 bed unit (25 m2).
  This will provide for high dependency care mainly to post-operative surgical cases, but also to some medical cases, acting as a limited Coronary Care Unit.
• Physiotherapy and Orthopaedics
  1 x physiotherapy room (30 m2)
  1 x Orthopaedic Workshop (20 m2)
• Staff and Administration
  1 x meeting room (30 m2)
  1 x staff room (20 m2)
  1 x community liaison office (20 m2)
  1 x manager’s office (20 m2)
  1 x administration office (30 m2)
  5 x staff quarters (totalling 100 m2)
• Miscellaneous
  Toilet facilities (30 m2)
  Storerooms (30 m2)
  2 x Jeep garages (40 m2)
  Laundry (30 m2)
  Kitchen facilities (30 m2)
  Maintenance workshop (30 m2)
  Covered outdoor waiting area (100 m2)
  Incinerator for disposal of hospital waste
